Artist - Patricia Tomes
Statement
My spirit is truly energized by the natural world which is why I choose to focus on the painted landscape. I feel fortunate to live in a spot in Pennsylvania where the horizon is wide and the skies broad, among hay meadows, plowed fields and fence rows. I began creating small works several years ago mainly out of a desire to simplify and have enjoyed the many benefits of working in a smaller format. Capturing a broad view on a small panel intrigues and challenges me. The mystery of what can be felt in the distance but perhaps easily missed inspires me. I attempt to interpret the intimate moments that exist when I am in that big space and it is my hope that a viewer connecting with my little paintings may renew and connect to their own sense of place.
