Artist - Shawn Adomanis
The series Cultured Figures (started in 2020) focuses on figures made of mold, spore, and bacteria cultures. The vision of the series is to present the perfection of the human form in what most would deem as disgusting. The visual realm created by these organisms is infinite, vastly complex, colorfully chaotic, and immensely beautiful. Part 1 consists of 10 portraits and was completed June 2022. Part 2 will consist of full body figures and is currently in progress. All paintings are done in oil on 15”x20” illustration board.
Shawn Adomanis (b. 1976) is a mostly self-taught artist. His personal works focus mainly on traditional media, experimenting with many styles and mediums. Over the years, that has ranged from original painted skateboards to watercolor illustrations to oil paintings. He is currently working on a 20 part series titled “Cultured Figures”.
Past exhibits include York & Penn Fine Art Gallery (Towson, MD), Gallery @ Second (Harrisburg, PA), IX Gallery Evening Showcase (Reading, PA), Alchemy of Art (Baltimore, MD). His work will be published in the upcoming Infected by Art, Volume 11.
For more than 25 years, Shawn has been a professional digital designer, medical illustrator, 3D artist, programmer, and animator. Currently, he works as a Creative Director with 20 years in the life sciences industry. Shawn currently resides in Red Lion, PA with his wife, Meredith. They have 3 children and one grandchild.
