Artist - Daniel Lawrence Brown
Statement
The interplay between scale and intimacy has been a driving force behind my work. I find small formats have a gem-like quality, enticing the viewer to come closer and communicate one on one with the image. I work primarily from photos: ones that have become so studied that they are less of a depiction, more of a memory. My needlepoint works are memorials small enough to be obscured by one’s hand: tactile and intricate.
